Jumper meets midi

Mustard jumper - H&M (The Hut similar here)
Midi bodycon skirt - New Look (buy here)
Suede boots - Topshop sold out
Bag - holiday purchase
Fedora hat - Primark (New Look similar here)

We all need one lazy outfit, something comfy and casual. For me a slouchy jumper over a body con skirt is the ideal outfit for a catch up with some friends. I absolutely adore the colour of this jumper. Mustard - It's a jump down from yellow however still a bold colour. Even if you aren’t prepared to have it as your main focal point of your outfit, it makes a wonderful accent colour. Whether it’s nails, accessories or a clutch bag the colour makes your outfit pop from the crowd.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Styling the floral midi

Floral midi skirt - vintage (Judy's vintage fair)
Crop top - New look (sold out)
Suede boots - Topshop (Dune similar here)
Bucket bag - Boohoo (sold out)

If it's one item of clothing that I look forward to wearing in the summer, it's midi skirts. They're versatile and my go to transition outfit from day to cocktails at night. Not to mention how elegant and flattering they look on. It has to be everyone's statement piece all year round?

Me being a typical Scottish person, I cherished the moment of sunshine and wore this beautiful one I found at Judys Vintage Fair. I'm a lover of anything with florals, so It was love at first sight when I spotted this little treasure. Can you believe I only paid £7.00! I seriously advise anyone who is skint to take a trip to Judy's at some point. They have everything from Levi's denim to 50's retro dresses. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Suede a-line skirt

Suede skirt - H&M (Topshop similar buy here)
White chiffon blouse - Primark (New Look buy similar here)
Brown loafers - River Island (sold out)
Patch suede bag - New Look (sold out)
Tan fedora hat - Primark (Matalan buy similar here)

As you will have noticed I'm totally embracing the 70s just now, so I do apologise for another one of those trending 70s inspired posts. I seriously can't get enough! I recently saw 'Inherent Vice' and although the movie was quite boring with no plot, I would quite happily watch it a million times over to admire Mark Bridges costume designing.

I have now purchased a fringe bag, culottes, aline denim skirt and now this beautiful faux suede skirt has made it's way into my life. It's not real suede, however it still holds an expensive feel to it and for under £25 you can't grumble at that. I wanted to keep my outfit classy but still feel comfortable for my road trip up north so I choose my white collar blouse, tan loafers and fedora hat, which all worked perfect together.

What do you think? Also are you adding suede into your wardrobe this season, comment below.

Styling the knee high socks

Skort - Miss Selfridge (sold out)
Crochet top - h&m (sold out)
Kimono - Primark (sold out)
boots - New Look (similar here)
Suede patch bag - New Look (sold out)

I've always had a love/hate relationship with knee high socks. Sometimes I spot a really cute quirky outfit scrolling through tumblr then bam, I'm hit with a border line tacky outfit again. I guess this is probably why I haven't felt comfortable enough to adventure outside wearing them until now.

After years of waiting for the 'right' outfit, I found it in Miss Selfridge. My love for buying this skirt goes way back to the leather zara one which EVERY blogger in existence had or wanted. However this one cost me like £10. Happy days right? The combination of the beautiful burgandy colour, elegant look of a skirt at the front  really kept my outfit classy and casual enough to wear during the day.

What do you think? Also do you find it difficult to style with knee high socks.. Comment below.

The denim A-line

A-line skirt - Primark (Miss Selfridge similar here
Floral kimono - Primark
Ribbed roll neck top - Topshop (buy here)
Suede boots - Topshop (sold out)
knee high socks - Primark
Fedora hat - Primark

What can I say - I'm totally obsessed with the 70's western throw back trend this season. So it's no shock to me that I couldn't resist buying this perfect a-line denim skirt from Primark.

However I'm now asking myself, why exactly I've never owned one, as it's been a god send to my wardrobe since I purchased it. Why? It goes with virtually anything I throw on. From my jumpers on lazy days to tailored blouses in the evening, I've yet to find something I can't team it with. Its one little item I definitely recommend investing in, I promise you won't regret it.

styling with the culottes

Culottes - Miss Selfridge (Buy here)
Fringe blouse - Zara (Buy here)
Faux fur gilet - Vintage
Pointed suede boots - Top Shop (sold out)
Fringe bag - vintage (Zara Similar here)
Boho inspired jewellery - New Look (sold out)

Some people may never get the culotte trousers. I guess you could say they're a little like marmite, you either love them or hate them. However, sensing that this spring/summer 70s hippy influences are expected to bloom, culotte trousers or any kind of flare are a must in everyones wardrobe. For those who are unsure what they are, they're basically trousers that hang like a skirt, meaning you can enjoy the comfort but still look effortlessly chic.

I must admit I wasn't 100% sure, due to the swooping baggy flare at the bottom I thought they would drown my frame out. However, tucking in my blouse or jumper and wearing platform boots or mules helps balance out my body frame and elongate my legs a bit more.

They're my favourite staple piece this spring as I'm constantly styling for comfort and the unpredictable Scottish weather, so they do tick all the boxes. What I also love about these sculptural trousers is how versatile they are to style with other clothes. You name it crop tops, blouses and jumpers are all perfect combinations. I just can't wait to experiment with mine.

Are you styling culottes this spring? I'd love to know.
