Something a little different

Hey lovely bloggers,

So I had a bit of an exciting weekend, it was me and my boyfriend's anniversary! So We did what couples do and celebrated with dinner, a little theatre trip followed by drinks in Glasgow

I have to say I got pretty spoiled as he also managed to squeeze in a MAC appointment just before dinner, which included a full professional  makeover and £30 to spend in store. Honestly what more could a girl want! As I am not very confident with make up, I really enjoyed the experience of someone doing my make-up. Allison the make-up artist could not have been more helpful. I loved the fact that she asked me loads of questions about how I wear my make-up. From coverage to what finish I prefer.

As I don't normally wear a lot of make-up I decided to ask Allison to emphasis on my eyes and lips and I don't think she could have done it better. Not too much and oozing sophistication. I loved my look so much that I practically ending up buying most of the product she used on me. My favourite being the chili matte lipstick. What do you think?

Ps - sorry about the bad photo quality here. If anyone's tried to take pictures in Citizen M then you'll know that it's a nightmare

After this we headed to a lovely place called club 29 at the Royal Exchange square. Honestly don't know where to start! From the beautiful fairy-tale surroundings of lights, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, it was one of the nicest places I have ever eating in. Then our food arrived, oh my gad!! It was like heaven on a plate, even if I tried I could not fault any of the dishes! I would recommend this to anyone, and you would think that for all this that it was quite pricey, nah Its pretty much your average TGI bill. So it's definitely the place to go if you're wanting a quality meal but still on a budget.

Don't forget if you do go, try the home made bread they offer at the table. It's to die for!!

Lastly, we headed to the theatre to see Edward scissor hands. As I'm a big Tim Burton fan I felt I needed to see this. I'm so glad I did it's a cracking piece of theatre Although the original Gothic suburban elements are still there, Mathew Bourne takes a fresh new take on it. One of my favourite scenes was the start which answers the question from the movie of why Edward even existed.

The play is also driven by Danny Elfman, beautiful sound track and contemporary ballet which tells the story of a bittersweet, touching love story. For me it was one which I won't forget and would encourage anyone from your granny to your children to go see this.

Oh and like movie, you may ball your eyes out as I nearly did so bring some tissues.

I guess this little post was a bit different to my usual outfit posts, however as I was in my favourite city and had such a wonderful weekend with my boyfriend I guess it'd be silly not to blog about it.

Styling Monochrome

Check trousers River Island| chunky jumper Primark| quilted bag Bulgaria on holiday| pointed shoes Primark

Okay, so we can all agree that we all love a bit of monochrome. I mean why would you not? It may be a little safe, but don't you just feel so classy.

For me, I have always struggled to add brighter colours to my outfits but time after time I have failed and  went back to my monochrome, dark ways. However the perks of having such a neutral wardrobe is that you have a better chance of finding pieces that actually go together. It's definitely a life safer when I'm running late for work. Sometimes throwing a black and white combo really does look as though you've pre planned your outfit, when actually you've just slept in for work.

So my tip is, if you are styling that favourite monochrome outfit, make sure you mix it up by adding bold statement accessories or fedora hats as it instantly adds a chic and interest to your outfit.

However as today was kinda a lazy day with my boyfriend I opted a laid back look. Pairing my River Island check trousers with a chunky black jumper, which I recently purchased from Primark. I absolutely love it, and is now my 'go to' piece when I can't decide what to wear. Even better when I got to the till and paid only £5.00 for it! I know an absolute bargain? It's incredible what you can find in there if you have a good rummage.

And lastly, I added a little colour with my beautiful burgundy quilted bag which I purchased on holiday and my beloved pointed shoes from Primark.

Granny Chic

cigarette pants - H&M| Duster kimono - Primark| Brown loafers - River Island| Fedora hat - Primark| Tote bag - Missguided

Dressing up like you've just popped round to your grans wardrobe for a shopping spree has always been one of my favourite looks. A outfit that's filled with autumn colors, floral, vintage accessories, chunky knitwear and a pair of brown brogues or loafers! Yes, these are all my ultimate favorite things in an outfit. So today I was kinda excited to show you fashionistas my outfit of today.

At the moment I'm totally crushing over tailored cigarette pants (the ones your wee gran would wear on special occasions.) Honestly my first impressions: "nah not a chance In hell, they'll drown my small bum out"! Therefore making me look too grannish. I know, it's a bit ironic as this post is called granny chic but I think we can all agree girls that it's never good when something doesn't fit you on the bum. These cigarette pants did the complete opposite of my expectations, in fact I reckon  they are one of my best buys from h&m. Down to the length, fit, colour and how darn comfy they are on for stating 'tailored' on the label. I am in complete love!

Finishing of my look was quite easy as I choose something simple on the top, and opted for my over sized blouse also from h&m to do the trick. Then creating that granny feel to the outfit, I choose my duster kimono which added a mix of length and pattern, brown chunky loafers, then lastly finishing of the look with some chic just add a fedora hat! It's a great lil accessory!

Fearless

Hello all! This week I've found it extremely difficult to squeeze any outfit posts, as I have been working a lot more and not finishing until after 4 which by that point it's pitch black. So I've decided to do something a little different and write about my all time favorite fashion icons. Who are they? Well if you do follow me on Instagram you may have guessed that it is the Olsen's. Yes I am a little obsessed with these fashion goddesses, And it goes all back to when I was about 10 years old watching their teen movies when in London, when in Rome? Yes I think every girl had owned at least one of their movies. Well me, I had them all!

Being a fashion addict since a little girl, I guess I often looked up to them for style advice and today it still hasn't changed. I admire these two ladies, for one their outfits are always daring and stand out from the crowd! I find a lot of time people always think that chasing trends are classed as being a real 'fashionista', I disagree!

Fashion is about letting your outfits do the talking, dressing to suit your personality or expressing your moods. It's a form of art and it's something that they both portray individually through their own unique style focusing on what they like.  Standing at 5,3 means you can't wear a maxi dress without looking frumpy. These fearless billion dollar queen bees definitely prove this wrong. In fact they invented the look  of oversized garments of bohemian layers and maxi clothing. More so by Mary-kate as she is normally described as the more darker of the twin sticking to a more grungy to vintage chic than Ashley's simplistic classic looks. Me myself being quite small, has encouraged me to think out the box and wear what I want. Don't let gok wan fool you girls!

The Olsens secrets are: The bigger the better when it comes to their oversized sunglasses and bags that they could literally could live in. Oh and they don't forget to pair any outfit without adding faux fur stoles, throwing on layers of chunky jewellery, velvet head bands, messy undone hair, finished off with some red lip stick. Yup who doesn't love the olsens? Even Karl Lagerfield loves them!!!!!

These girls not only inspire me though fashion but encourage me to push in what I love doing and show that dedication and hard work really does pay off. Anyways enough of me rambling on, instead be inspired by some of my favourite pictures I have gathered below. Enjoy lovelies!

Positive vibes

Hello again! Sorry for the delay in uploading another blog. It's something that I feel I do need to get better at which is frequently updating my posts. I mean what is the point in having a blog, if you don't blog right?

It might actually be a stage that I'm going through of what any blogger must experience at some point. It's that question: "Am I actually any good?", a conscious thought after clicking publish every time.

I'm also a super self critical and hold a lot of self doubt in myself which usually means I have already failed before I've even started and turn down a lot of opportunities! Do I really want to live like this anymore? I mean, how many more opportunities do I turn away because I feel I 'cant' do it! I guess I'm kind of trying to tell myself by writing this blog that's it's time to start believing in myself! I want to start saying 'YES' I can do it. Now say it out loud...

So if you are reading this and can relate to this in someway I guess one of the things that does help me is step away from your negativity for a minute, take a deep breath and now think to yourself what's the worst that can happen? Okay so you may make a mistake but so does everyone infact! It's what makes us humans so don't shy away from your opportunity standing right in front of you. Think about what the future might bring to you or just that amazing buzz feeling after you've accomplished it. Remember you control your life not your fear or negativity, so go grab it!!!!!
